Flavors of Florida’s Historic Coast Special Event

Top-Chefs-2012

Friday, October 12, nearly 600 hungry food enthusiasts attended our first-ever Flavors of Florida's Historic Coast Top Chef Cook- Off. Organized by the VCB's Barbara Golden and held at the beautiful Renaissance World Golf Village Resort, Convention Center and Beach Club, the event provided an opportunity for 13 outstanding local restaurants to showcase their fare for an enthusiastic crowd and a chance for their talented chefs to compete for Top Chef honors. Plus, the event served as an important fund-raiser for Home Again St. Johns - the primary organization for meeting the needs of the homeless in St. Johns County.
When the ballots were counted, the results of the evening's competition were announced to the crowd. The Flavors Top Chef for 2012 was Chef Alberto Avila from the Villagio Italian Grille. Second place went to 95 Cordova's Harlon Waldon and in third place was Michael Lugo from The Tasting Room. Based on the ballots cast by attendees, The People's Choice Award also went to the Villagio Italian Grille. Second place went to 619 Ocean View at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Beaches at Vilano garnered the third largest number of votes.
Don't forget, Flavors of Florida's Historic Coast continues throughout the month. Don't miss this limited-time opportunity to try the featured, prix fixe (fixed-price) menu offering at the participating restaurants: 619 Ocean View; 95 Cordova; Amici Italian Grille; Aunt Kate's; Aviles Restaurant; Beaches on Vilano; Bistro de Leon; Café Atlantico; Donovan's Irish Pub; Kingfish Grille, Raintree Restaurant; Rhett's Piano Bar and Brasserie; Scarlett O'Hara's; South Beach Grill; the Reef; the Tasting Room; and Villagio Italian Grille.
